Hi my name is Mary Kate Thompson, owner of Wild Rose Midwifery. I look forward to getting to know each of you.

The idea of birthing at home has always seemed normal to me. I grew up in Wheaton, Illinois and was raised very holistically. I was homeschooled most of my life, while still in high school a friend mentioned midwifery to me as something I should look into. I was enthralled by it. I researched schools and laws and in time also came to realize the great need for midwives. I was also raised hearing my grandmother tell stories about her mother, a midwife, in Kentucky and how she would ride her horse over all the hills to each birth she attended. I have always loved little babies and been fascinated by pregnancy and what a beautiful process it is. By senior year in high school I had decided to attend Mercy In Action College of Midwifery. I spent hours watching birth videos and dreaming about the day I could deliver babies. I spent a gap year after high school taking culinary classes and nannying.

I started college in 2015 and spent 2016 interning at an out-of-hospital birth center in Wisconsin and then chose to transition to home birth. I moved to Utah to work with a home birth midwife. In order to gain more experience at a very busy, high demand practice I decided to move to Pennsylvania halfway through 2017 to complete my apprenticeship.

I graduated in 2018 and sat for the NARM exam later that year. I chose to move to Denver so that I could live near the mountains (a dream) as well as have a quick plane ride home for occasional trips. After practicing in Denver for 3 years, I’ve decided to move north to Loveland and am excited to start serving mothers in Loveland and surrounding areas! In August of 2022 I gave birth to my daughter.

In my free time I love being outdoors; hiking, kayaking, camping and swimming. I love finding quaint coffee shops. I enjoy cooking, reading and dancing. When I fly home to Wheaton I love spending time with my family and friends.

I believe in the natural process of birth and hope I can assist you in your journey.

I look forward to meeting you,

Mary Kate CPM, RM

Instinctively she knows that climbing is the wrong way to get to the top. Instead she chooses to descend the column and faces her fear of going into a cocoon. As a result, she becomes transformed into a beautiful butterfly.
